Covent Garden Prawn Noodles

The Covent Garden Prawn Noodle was founded by Mr and Mrs Lee, an elderly couple. Their stall in the Havelock Road Food Centre stands out among the rows of others thanks to its lengthy history, which dated back to the 1960s!
The stall sells pig intestine and pig skin in addition to the standard prawn, pork, and fish cake ingredients. The Prawn Noodle with Pig Intestine includes a bowl of soup, a ton of fresh prawns, pig intestines, pig skin, meat pieces, fish cake, and a sprinkle of fried shallots. The thick chunks of pig intestine provided are well-cleaned, firm, and chewy. The smaller option ($3.50), includes smaller shrimp, pork slices, fish cakes, and pork lards.

Covent Garden Kway Chap

It’s pretty hard to find a good and filling bowl of Kway Chap for $3 nowadays due to annual increase in food prices. Covent Garden Kway Chap is an old stall that has been around for 58 year and managed by Mdm Chua, who is 90 years old this year. Selling its filling bowls of Kway Chap with braised ingredients for a fair price of $3.
It offers a great selection of braised ingredients like Tou fu, Peanuts, Fish cakes, Tau Poh, Eggs, Pig skins, Pig organs, such as the stomach and intestines. Simply Cheap and good!
Covent Garden Kway Chap Address : 22A Havelock Road Food Centre, #01-05, S161022 Opening Hours: 6am – 1pm (Closed on Sun & Mon)
Guang Fa Laksa

Laksa is Singapore’s most popular dish will always be this hearty and flavourful local favourite. Guang Fa Laksa serves its laksa with fresh cockles and delivers a flavour explosion that will not disappoint. For those who love hum, you can try their Only Cockles Laksa ($4/5) or their usual bowl of laksa, which costs $3, $4, or $5.
The laksa soup was thick and rich, with added coconut milk and hae bee hiam (spicy dried shrimp sambal) gave it a beautifully savoury and fragrant flavour. Although it’s not overly spicy, it does cause a tiny itch in my throat.
Guang Fa Laksa Address : 22A Havelock Road Food Centre, #01-08, S161022 Opening Hours: 730am – 130pm (Closed on Sun & Wed)
Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow

Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow has been in business for more than 40 years. A father-daughter team operated the stall for a long time before completely taken over fully by her daughter.
The stall relocated to its current site about three years ago from Wei Xuan Eating House on Havelock Road, where it had previously located. Stall only offers two dishes which are Beansprout Cockles ($5/$8/$10) and Fried Kway Teow ($3/$4/$5).
Their Fried Kway Teow was wet and pretty generous for $3 with lots of ingredients. The noodles was smoky, charred with great Wok Hei. Simply love the crispy pork lards and Chinese sausage slices. What a messy plate of delicious goodness!
Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow Address : 22A Havelock Road Food Centre, #01-07, S161022 Opening Hours: 9am – 245pm (Closed on Sunday)

Local customers always frequent Havelock Turtle Soup stall for years for their cheap, flavourful and aromatic herbal turtle soup. Stall also sell Frog soup for $5, $6 or $8, Yum rice for 50¢ or 70¢ and White rice for 50¢.
The turtle meat is tender, delicious, and the soup is not too strong herbally. Perfect to complement together with their fluffy yum rice and garlicky chilli sauce. For just $10, it is definitely the most value for money turtle soup in Singapore as compare to the other turtle soup stalls in Singapore.

You Yi Fish Soup

The highlight of You Yi Fish Soup stall is the fried fish. This bowl of fried fish is golden and crispy on the outside thanks to an old-school style of batter. So fresh and crunchy that you can never stop at one! Stall owner is always first to reach her stall as early as 6am to prepare and to cook the soup bases. While last to depart the food centre as to prepare the ingredients for the next day.
You should also try their delicious and savoury Tom Yum soup, by deciding which type of noodle to add into your soup. Choices include Bee hoon, Ban mian, You mian, Mee Hoon Kuey, Mee sua, and Ee mian. Other menus include Seafood soup, Mian Fen Guo, Ban Mian, Fried fish with soup and Fried fish with Tom Yum. Price from $4 onwards.
You Yi Fish Soup Address : 22B Havelock Road Food Centre, #01-30, S161022 Opening Hours: 1130am – 4pm (Closed on Sat & Sun)
Zheng Nasi Lemak

Zheng Nasi Lemak at Havelock Road Food Centre is entirely owned by Chinese and is not a Halal stall. Stall offers 6 simple Sets Menu for you to choose from, including Chicken drumstick set, Chicken wing set, Fish set, Otah set and more, with price starting from $4.50.
The drumstick is hot but find the flesh a bit dry and hard as it was overcooked. The rice is nice and fluffy with coconut milk aromatic. Love the Chilli as it is hot and spicy but the rest of the ingredients are pretty normal. It will be a good place to have your Nasi Lemak fixed.
Zheng Nasi Lemak Address : 22A Havelock Road Food Centre, #01-12, S161022 Opening Hours: 10am – 1pm (Closed on Sunday)
Tan’s Tu Tu Coconut Cake

There is always a Tu tu cake war between Tan’s tu tu stall and Du Du cooked food at Havelock food centre. Both stalls are selling the same Tutu Kueh and we will decide which stall is the best.
The traditional treats at Tan’s Tu Tu Coconut Kueh are painstakingly handcrafted by the lady boss every day at the Havelock till 3pm. The brown coconut filling ($4 for 5 pieces) is fresh and sweet, while the peanut filling being a crowd favourite, has a light saltiness and sweetness that keeps you coming back for more. The chocolate filling is available at $4.50 for 5 pieces. The Tu tu cake are so fragrance, chewy and tender that keep customers coming back for more.
Tan’s Tu Tu Coconut Cake also has another stall at 449 Clementi Ave 3, #01-211 (6pm to 10pm daily)
Tan's Tu Tu Coconut Cake Address : 22B Havelock Road Food Centre, #01-25, S161022 Opening Hours: 12pm – 3pm (Closed on Thur & Sun)
Du Du Cooked Food

I have previously wrote and reviewed about Du Du Cooked food at 505 Jurong West food Centre in Oct 2022. Mr Tan has been selling Kueh Tutu for more than 50 years starting with this humble stall in 505 Jurong West Food Centre and owns another outlet here at Havelock Food Centre.
Mr Tan offers 4 pieces of Tutu Kueh for just $2 and most interestingly is that Mr Tan offers XL-sized Tutu Kueh (Price of $1 each) that is as big as the size of a palm.
Conclusion – Both stalls has their own base of loyal customers. Tan tutu’s Kueh might be slightly better in texture and taste but you will have to pay $4 for 5 pieces of tutu kueh (80¢ each) as compare to $2 for 4 pieces (50¢ each) at Du Du cooked food.
Du Du Cooked Food Address : 22A Havelock Road Food Centre, #01-10, S161022 Opening Hours: 7am – 1pm (Closed on Sun & Mon)
Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh

Although Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh is not directly inside Havelock Road Food Centre but its such a famous stall that worth mentioning. Plus it is just few mins walking distance away from the Havelock food centre. Free parking is available outside the restaurant but with very limited parking lots.
Madam Gwee Peck Hua has founded Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh since 1973 together with her sister Gwee Gek Hua. Both of them have been working tirelessly to perfect their Teochew-style Bak Kut Teh. Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh shifted to this current premises at Havelock Road in 1995 when their initial Outram Park stall was reacquired by government.
Since then, they have grown to a total of 4 branches located at 7 Keppel Road, 205 Hougang street 21, 593 Havelock Road (here) and latest new outlet at 100 Jalan Jurong Kechil.
The Bak Kut was fresh and tender but the soup is not as peppery as other places, which some might like. I always enjoy dipping the meat into their dark sauce with chilli slices, then pop right into the mouth. You can enjoy the aromatic flavours of the bak kut and free refills of the Bak Kut Teh soup as well. The steamed egg is really silky and smooth. The braised Pig trotter was soft and tender as it has been cooked for hours. Best to drizzle the braised sauce with rice, then blended with some peanuts or preserved vegetable for an even wonderful taste.
Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh Address : 593 Havelock Rd, Singapore 169641 Opening Hours: 11am – 10pm (Closed on Monday)
